POETICS
POETRY IS AN ORAL ART AT ITS BEST WHEN RECITED
it then becomes a two-way unique one-off.experience .
to the detail-
Traditional line capitalisation is ok In RHYME ..YES..
but NOT otherwise as it creates a natural pause (ie it stilts) & thus disrupts the flow
as it also does in wrap-around lines which are also a no-no !
& are not visually conducive to read digitally or otherwise!
"what have you got against these five forms and their like,
acrostic,
kyrielle
terzanelle
villanelle
&pantoum etc? "
they can be good for a learning exercise,a bit like scales are important when learning the pianobut are too contrived & mechanical IMHO for poetry form
& importantly these days which is why they, like all traditional poetics line capitalisation & punctuation etc are susceptible to undetectable AI
but I like shape, emagi & ekphrasis verse! they reveal my weakness for art in poetry!
I do not care for prose poetry! as for my taste they & 'real' poetry do not mix
particular forms that appeal would be
Rhyme, alliteration, clerihew, footle&hiku*(both in the singular especially) will always ring my bell.
& of course
poetry in the OPEN VERSE style
which
uses spaces&breaks without grammatical symbols relies upon 'the one breath limitation' this intuitive cadence pemits the 'reader' (reciter) to respond in an interpretative - interplay unique to the ' happening
MY DEFINITION- I use in making my art ,similar to my poetics
I prefer bold expressive applied spontaneity of visceral feelings unpredictable & evolving organically.A physical engagement of energy & emotions in & of the moment processed in a sense of chaotic immediacy
whilst apprecicating the skill in figuarative art and my spontaneous 'one-off' reaction thereto.
